Translation Quality Assurance (QA)

Quality assurance (QA) is a way of preventing mistakes or defects in final translation project deliverables and avoiding problems when delivering services to customers; which ISO 9000 defines as "part of quality management focused on providing confidence that quality requirements will be fulfilled".
With this in mind, we have elaborated specific requirements for the core processes, resources, quality acceptance criteria and other aspects necessary for the delivery of a quality translation service.
Our working process includes eight-step quality assurance and control, which complies with ISO 9001, diverse requirements and standards, as well as the recommendations of numerous translation and localization associations. (To learn more, visit our Work process page.)
For instance, we have specialized teams of translators and editors (whose professional competences are proven and documented)  for different industries. Regardless of the industry, we always use CAT-tools and conduct final proofreading to improve the consistency of the translation project.

Translation Quality Evaluation Policy

Acceptable quality translation means properly edited and naturally phrased target language text with appropriate terminology, no grammar errors or mistranslations and that is entirely free from MT, inconsistent or nonsense translation in general.
To ensure high quality of translation projects entrusted to MovaSvit Translation Agency, we assign expert translators, editors, and proofreaders to work on each project. Therefore, all translation projects undergo a multi-layered process of checks and reviews. When the issues are detected, they are documented in the Translation Quality Evaluation Form and used to produce translator rating as well.

Translation Quality Evaluation Process

The entire Translation Quality Evaluation process is completely transparent to the client and implies the following steps:

  1. Pre-translation: a review of the overall scope of the translation project by a PM (timeline, inventory of files, glossaries (if any), assigned translators and editors, final file delivery);
  2. Translation preparation: a PM/translator identifies typos, inconsistencies, missing text, etc. in the source document (requires client clarification);
  3. Translation: qualified and experienced translators with subject matter expertise, who are native speakers of the target language translate the materials and return it to the PM for review;
  4. Editing: all initial translations are reviewed by a second professional translator/editor for any errors or stylistic differences or word choice, etc. Then, the comments and the edited text are submitted to the original translator who should use his/her discretion to accept or reject the suggested corrections;
  5. Formatting/DTP: being sensitive to the audience’s cultural nuances (localization changes, if required), our DTP specialists will format each translation to match the original material using the same program/application that was used to lay out the source document (including fonts, graphics, margins etc.);
  6. QA/Proofreading/Reconciliation: correct spelling (especially, proper names), consistent headers and footers, proper pagination, incorporated updates, etc.;
  7. Final Check/Delivery: in-house translators/editors conduct a final review of the translation project to verify the content and that nothing has been omitted from the text during the formatting stage.
  8. Client Feedback: Dedicated PMs work to ensure that our deliverables meet all client’s requirements.
